The Community of Saint Stephen's, Bristol
A bit more...
This community is many things - you are welcome to be a part of it.
It is open. Questions are encouraged and cherished and there may not be absolute answers here.
It is a place of respect and tolerance. Consider the people around you - how they may be similar and different to you. Think about when to listen, and when to speak, when to be silent, and when to be loud.
It should be a safe space where everyone is valued, everyone is welcome. You can be yourself here.
It is honest. That might mean you hear things that surprise or challenge you, that change your mind, that you disagree with, or that upset you. If that happens you can talk to one of the leaders if that is helpful.
It is creative. Some parts might be different each week. It is a space to explore and try new things. It engages with the creative arts, with poetry, storytelling, music and art.
It is connected To the challenges and beauty of the world around us. To the other days of our week. To our work, and the causes which drive us.
It is historic. Rooted in an ancient space and engaging with the legacies of its past.
It is holy ground. A space set aside to encounter God, whoever that may be to you and whatever that may mean.
This community is many things - you are welcome to be a part of it. Welcome.
We meet every Sunday for worship at 5pm, with Communion on second and fourth weeks, and on Thursdays say Morning Prayer at 9am and celebrate a Lunchtime Eucharist at 12.30pm.
The first Tuesday of each month is Resonate: an emerging community wishing to gather, reflect and create. An opportunity to experiment with new ideas. A place to reflect on culture & the everyday. A forum to discuss. A safe place to be.
We are also a regular venue for events with a café (open Wednesday - Saturday, 10am - 4pm), Monday lunchtime concerts (1-2pm), evening concerts and plenty more to get involved in.
What do we do for students?
We offer a warm welcome for students & are a great place to explore your spirituality at this exciting new step of your life. The community is friendly, open and welcoming - a small but engaged congregation.
We can help you find your way in a new city & connect to the wider community.
