St Werburgh's Derby

Our vision is to build an authentic community, which is Christ-centred, that plays our part in transforming the city and beyond.

A bit more...

We are a city centre resource church plant in the heart of Derby, sent by Holy Trinity Brompton. We reopened the church (which was formerly a Chinese restaurant!) in September 2017 by launching our evening service and it has been an exciting adventure ever since! We have also planted two other churches across the city in the past 4 years. We have two services on a Sunday as well as a whole host of things for people to plug into, including Community groups, the Alpha course, caring for refugees, and various other programs and events for children, youth, students and young adults. We welcome everyone at Werb's and there are so many different and exciting ways to get involved and to serve. It is our hope and prayer that you will feel at home with us. We would love to get to know you!

What do we do for students?

If you are a student then Collective is the place to be! Join us on Tuesday nights at 7pm-9pm to spend time with God and learn more about him. A "Collective" is defined as a group of people that share or are motivated by a common issue or work together to achieve a common objective. Our common goal is to grow in our relationship with Jesus and to make him known. We do this by meeting weekly for food, fun, worship, teaching, prayer and small groups.

After the Sunday evening service we encourage you to connect with other students and members of the church who like to hang out after the service (usually at the pub!)

We have a large community of students and our church has a whole range of areas and ministries you can be involved with. Things like, worship and production, welcome and hospitality, kids and youth as well as work with refugees.

Get Directions

On Sundays most students come to our 6:30pm service which is a service specifically aimed at 16 to 30 year olds. The shape of the service, the topics we study and the community focus is all aimed at helping those in this age group grow in their relationship with Jesus and invite their friends along.

If you are more of an early bird then we meet at 10am for pastries, drinks and fellowship for a 10:30am service.

We also have Collective on Tuesday nights at 7pm with food, fun, worship, teaching, and small groups. Collective is for anyone aged 18 to 25 years old, student or working.
