Carey Baptist Church
A bit more...
Our mission statement at Carey is “Showing love, speaking Jesus” and that is exactly what we aim to do! We are serious about mission in Reading and beyond. We are excited about the unique opportunity that students have to show love and speak Jesus on campus, and we fully support students as they live on the mission field of the University campus!

What do we do for students?
Equip. Disciple. Encourage.
Student life is an incredibly unique time filled with new ideas, new people and places. It can be a time of real growth, but also a time of intense challenges. As a Church, Carey Baptist has had a long history of involvement with the Students at Reading University; equipping, discipling and encouraging them to love the Lord their God with all their heart, soul, strength and mind. By the time you graduate it’s our hope that you will have grown in your faith, seen more of God through his word, and become more equipped for a lifetime of being a disciple of Jesus wherever you go!
Bible Studies
This year we will be studying the gospel of Mark as a student group - and we are incredibly excited to dig deeper into God’s word and learn more of who Jesus is. There will also be weeks dedicated to covering specific topics that are relevant to this stage of your life!
We meet in the Carey Centre for bible study, light refreshments, fellowship and prayer, before attending the evening service together.
These gatherings will be in line with the latest government COVID guidance, and so may change format throughout the year as restrictions ease or tighten!
Sunday Services
Due to COVID - services are looking slightly different this year! There is a booking system in place (although, don’t worry there will be some spare seats if you’re new and haven’t booked!), and we are encouraging people to watch one service online, and come to one service in person.
As a student group we will be attending the evening service, straight after the student bible study. If possible don’t forget to book by Friday mornings.
Socials
Throughout the year we will be organising a number of different social events. Keep your eyes open on facebook and instagram for details of these.
1-2-1s
For those wanting to meet with an older Christian for one-to-one discipleship, to study the Bible and/or to simply talk and pray together, we are more than happy to connect you with someone suitable in the church.
