We love our local communities of Royal Holloway, Egham and Englefield Green - we seek to release God's transformative love and goodness in individual lives and in the wider community. The Journey exists that we might be formed into the likeness of Christ as we learn to love God, to love and serve each other as we cultivate honest and passionate community, and to see the people and places around us encouraged, renewed and transformed as we serve, bless and forge friendships.
The Journey is a small church family immersed in our community - we think this village is the bees' knees. We are also part of a larger family called River Church with congregations in other nearby towns.
What do we do for students?
We know that university is a significant time, where you learn a lot about yourself, your relationship with God and who he is calling you to be. So we want to make space for you and serve you, but we also want to receive what you bring and is on your heart so that you can run with it, while also giving you space to help shape us.
If you want to get stuck into the local kids' club, help put on a community lunch, help finish our pizza oven, play in the worship band or lead us in a poetry workshop on a Sunday, you can do that, if you just want to rock up, make some friends and join us for lunch at the pub, we'd love to have you. Regardless of how much or little you want to be involved with, there will always be space to share, to grow, to wrestle with the hard questions of life and faith and find places to outwork it, with people similar to you, and those who aren't.
We're a sociable bunch, so we're sure it won't be long before you're invited to come walking, have dinner at someone's house, or come to a party. We go away together for a weekend every year and go camping in the summer, alongside lots of other shenanigans during the year, and have small groups every week where we eat together, pray, talk, tell stories, tussle with some scripture and share our lives.
